Hello to all,

I just don’t know how you can beat this . . . a Warren County Radio Club meeting AND Thanksgiving all in the same week!!!  Wow!  I mean, you can go to meetings all year and not have Thanksgiving in the same week . . .
So . . . we will be meeting at Uno Chicago Grill on US Rt 9 in Queensbury, right across the street from Walmart (just north of I-87 Exit 19) on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 7:00pm.
And . . . because it is so very strenuous for me, you know, having to think up something to write about to entice all of you to come to the meeting every month, I am pleased to say that Donald (N2VU) has provided me with a message to pass along (because, of course, the club IS affiliated with the American Radio RELAY League, so passing along messages is really part of our genetic heritage).  But, before I turn this e-mail over to Donald, I just want you all to notice that my run-on sentences are getting longer and longer every month . . . it is like a real challenge to keep them going without . . . (OK, so that’s enough, already Dan - yeah, you are probably right, I’ll end this sentence as soon as we get out of this parenthesis . . . ).
Over to you Donald . . .

Greetings to all,
Well, our next meeting is already upon us and I’d like to think of it as our group Thanksgiving get-together. While we won’t be carving a Turkey it’ll be nice to have some face-to-face time and enjoy the hobby and friendships that make this club so great.
We won’t have a guest speaker for this month but there’s a lot for us to cover and everyone’s input is important and will greatly contribute to the year ahead. By the way, anyone of you can do a presentation so don’t assume that the opportunity is limited to visitors.
It’s been very exciting to see the club’s size and enthusiasm continue to grow. In case you didn’t know, the activity that this club is now known for has actually become the talk of the region. It’s been very flattering to be asked by at least three other clubs in Northern New York and Vermont “what’s the secret to your club’s success?”
As far as planning; It seems as though the group was satisfied with the presenters we’ve had the past year or so, as well as the events we’ve participated in, however to plan for the next year I’d really like to hear the group share its interests. It certainly will help me in planning for future meetings as I don’t merely seek anyone to fill time, I try to find people who can enthusiastically share something we’re all interested in. So give it some thought and get your hand up when the time comes.
Shawn Perry (KD2DJU) will fill everyone in on the negotiating that’s been going on behind the scenes the past few months for us to have an added site on Mount Defiance. Shawn has taken the lead on this project and has been working with Brian LaFlure and the people of Essex County / Ticonderoga like Mike Blaise and others concerned.
Decembers meeting: Amy Drexel (Emergency Services Coordinator for Warren OES) will visit us and share with everyone how significant we are to the county and her work. She’ll have a Power Point presentation as well as discuss accomplishments during the past year, what’s in the works right now and plans for the new year. The timing for her visit couldn’t be better.
Though I was not able to attend last month’s meeting, I heard it went well and somehow I wound up being re-elected. Thank you for choosing Donald James as your president as I know you have a choice in club presidents J All kidding aside, with all that can be said for the Warren County Amateur Radio club, I appreciate your confidence in me to continue doing whatever I can to support the group. I welcome questions and comments so don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.
Everyone in this group is as important as the other, I look forward to seeing you at the meeting Monday night, and if for whatever reason, something, somehow prevents you from attending … I very sincerely wish you a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
