As of now the meeting tomorrow night (Monday 26th) is POSTPONED until 02/02/2015! Because of the severe weather that is forecast for our area, we are postponing the meeting. We have a great night planned BUT we certainly don’t want anyone out on unsafe roads and nor do we want to alienate people who planned to come from areas that will be more affected than others, so the decision is to not have the meeting tomorrow night. Sorry about that but we trust you understand. We will update you regarding rescheduling as soon as we know more.

73’s and be safe.

Hello to all,

Well, well, well . . . here we are, staring into the teeth of a new year! And it just so happens that this new year has started in the Winter as so many others have. OK, so maybe I am stating the obvious, but did you know that on Monday evening at around 7:00pm, we will be only 76,225 minutes away from Spring??? So it would seem that would make it a perfect time for a meeting of the Warren County Radio Club.

That’s right folks . . . our first meeting of the new year will be Monday, January 26, 2015 at 7:00pm at Uno Chicago Grill on US Rt 9 in Queensbury, right across the street from Walmart just North of Exit 19 of Interstate 87.

And it is true that I have sold some of my verbosity to Donald (N2VU) and he has put it to good use by writing the following meeting promo:

Hamming it up with Jim McKnight (K-2-L-M) … a Face to Face version of the Tech NET

There’ll be no PowerPoint presentations this month though there might be a handout or two with websites to reference. While Jim will lead this month’s meeting, it’ll pretty much be made up of everyone’s contributions. No-ONE-person knows it all but all know something, and that also means that there is no such thing as a dumb question … so let’s ham it up and get techy this Monday night!

Jim will start off by sharing what devices he uses to diagnose problems and what equipment is on his bench.

He’ll talk about and show tools you should always have on hand in the shack. Why not bring what you feel is your “must-have” tool too. Jim will probably bring one or two that he suggests every ham acquire; his favorite is his Kobalt 6-in-1 screwdriver.

Some of the things he’ll discuss are:
  • How to make sure your dummy loads and patch cords are actually 50 ohms with no shorts
  • Various methods for assessing problems and checking things out
  • The lessons learned by experience
  • Tech tips and tricks

It’ll be a fun night for new hams and old.

And also note that Frank (KA5VVI) will bring some of N2DVD’s equipment for sale.

See you this Monday night (the 26th) at the next W2WCR meeting. Remember, we’re always listening so if you need some help finding the meeting place, just key up: 146.730 Prospect / 147.135 Gore or 146.775 Burch

73’s

Donald James

And now . . . back to me . . .

Hope to see you all at the meeting on Monday! And the 76 thousand minutes mentioned above translates into 53 days until Spring.

73,

Dan.
